Pathfinders' Trip to Oshkosh

Barstow's Pathfinders Club went  to Oshkosh, Wisconsin, for the 2009 Pathfinders Camporee, Courage to Stand. On their cross-country trek they traveled the open roads of California, Utah, and Wyoming and visited Salt Lake City, Yellowstone National Park, and Mt. Rushmore. Click here to see some of the photographs they have sent home! Below are a few letters then sent back.

Postcards and Letters

To Our Church Family,

We started out late as usual. However we are on our way. We stopped in Baker for lunch. Then we drove into Nevada and hit a lot of traffic in Las Vegas. From what I could see Vegas really wasn’t what I thought it would look like.

After Nevada we drove through about 40 minutes of Arizona before entering Utah. The Mesas and Buttes are a beautiful wonder to see. I think they look more like calico mountains then ours do.

I have certainly enjoyed this day and all its beauty. We have made it to Cedar City and are filling the gas tank. It’s only $2.55 per gallon here.

We stopped at Kanarraville for lunch at a rest stop. The kids have been amusing themselves with my computer and their games.

We are headed for someplace to spend the night. Our motor home is a spacious vehicle. It is larger and roomier than the trailor we live in.

Thank you all of you for prayers, all the donations, and cash for our journey. Without all of you, this would not be possible for any of us. Your prayers and cash are being well spent.

Love, All of us: the Case family, the Sappingtons, Christal and Summer

To Our Dear Church Members,

Thank you for your continuing prayers. They have brought us through to Bravo, Utah. The R.V. park was closed when we arrived. We spent the night in a super Wal-Mart parking lot along with other R.V.s.

This morning we will be taking a side trip to the church for pictures and then we’ll be on the run. We are behind schedule.

We visited (ran past) Temple Square snapping pictures as we went. Dr. Case let us out and Nancy took us to the Visitors Center. They have beautiful pictures of Christ’s life and a lovely musical.

We went to Yellowstone today. Saw Old Faithful. The geysers are beautiful for the most part.

We passed the Continental Divide, now the Yellowstone River, flows the opposite direction.

Our journey is being detained by buffalo. They must be at least a mile away. Traffic is backed up behind us at least a mile. We see them walking through the forests on the roadside.

It is raining now.

Will close for nore.

Love, All of us.
